SACRAMENTO, CA (02/19/10) - The Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL) is more than used to seeing their former stars make the jump to the professional ranks, but in the case of Paul Riley, he's another member in the line of coaches & assistants who now ply their trade at the next level - Women's Professional Soccer (WPS).
When the two-time WPSL Champion mentor took the coaching job for the expansion Philadelphia Independence last fall, he joined the likes of Boston's Tony DiCicco & Lisa Cole (SoccerPlus CT) and F.C. BEVERLY, MA (02/19/10) - The traditional New England winter has yet to come to fruition, and Boston Aztec - the professional affiliate of the Boston Breakers of Women's Professional Soccer (WPS) - have taken advantage as they begin to warm up for the Summer 2010 campaign in the East Conference of the Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL). Yesterday, the team announced that Mike Kersker will serve as Head Coach of the Breakers minor league team this season.
Kersker - President of New England Aztec and Athletic Director at the Waring School in Beverly, MA - has more than a decade of NCAA Div. III head coaching experience under his belt.... |
WPSL TO TEAM UP WITH USASA FOR WOMEN'S SOCCER
New USASA President & Implementation Team announced at U.S. Soccer AGM
SACRAMENTO, CA (02/09/10) - This past weekend in New Orleans, LA at the 2010 U.S. Soccer Annual General Meeting, there was another bit of developing national news besides the Super Bowl and the impressive win by the city's Saints. Alongside the election of former Region I Director Richard Groff as the new President of the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA), the new USASA Implementation Team Leaders were introduced to the membership in attendance at the Council Meeting.
As part of their re-organization effort, one of the directives put forward by the USASA is the establishment of a new set of core values that this Implementation Team will oversee.... |
LOS ANGELES F.C. CHELSEA TO JOIN WPSL
New Pacific-South Division team will be based out of Pasadena-area
PASADENA, CA (02/06/10) - Los Angeles F.C. Chelsea is the newest member team in the Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL), and are hoping their inaugural season in the Pacific-South Division will come up nothing but roses. The Pasadena-based club will play their home games at La Canada High School in La Canada, CA and already have an experienced WPSL mentor to lead the troops this Summer 2010 season.
Emamuel "Manny" Martins has been hired as Head Coach for LAFC Chelsea, coming off his 2-year stint as leader of the now-disbanded WPSL Los Angeles Rampage - who finished fourth with a 7-5-2 record in the very competitive Pacific-South Division last season. With the Rampage, Martins had three players honored with All-Pacific Conference accolades.... |

There will be new royalty in the "Queen City" this upcoming Summer 2010 season
CINCINNATI, OH (01/29/10) - The "Queen City" will be home to a new sports franchise this summer, as Classics Hammer F.C. will be part of the Midwest Conference of the Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL). CHFC has entered the league to continue with it's long & proud history of developing players and providing them with every opportunity to play at every possible level, and will be the only club in the Cincinnati-area representing this prestigious league.
Buck Lally - the current Men's Director of Coaching for Classics Hammer F.C. - has been named their Head Coach for their inaugural season, while former Santa Clara star Tiffany Roberts will serve as his assistant, alongside her duties as Media Relations Director for the WPSL team. The team's home venue will be at the Xavier University Soccer Complex (70 x 115 FieldTurf pitch), providing a first-class facility for both fans & players alike.... |
