Thomasville
The Thomasville Dragons will host a Gold Medal party Thursday at 9am at the Bean Company to watch the United States Womens National Soccer Team compete for the Gold Medal in the China Olympics. The Bean Company will offer special pricing on coffee drinks during the game.
The Dragons are excited by the events in womens soccer this week, including the United States Olympic Womens Soccer Team's 4-2 victory over Japan in the semi-final round, the announcement of a WPS (Womens Professional Soccer) team coming to Atlanta in 2010, and the Dragons Womens Community Squad game versus Thomas University. We hope that a victory by the National Womens Team in the Gold Medal game in China on Thursday will be the capstone of a very exciting week in the growth of women's soccer in Georgia and the United States.
To quote from the ussoccer.com front page: The U.S. Women are one victory away from earning their third gold medal when they face Brazil in the final at Beijing Workers' Stadium on Thursday, Aug. 21 at the 2008 Olympics. The match kicks off at 9 a.m. ET and will be broadcast live on USA Network and the NBC Olympic Soccer Channel... The match is a repeat of the 2004 Athens final, in which the U.S. won, 2-1, in overtime. In that match, the U.S. got a crucial goal on a strike by then 20-year-old Lindsay Tarpley before Abby Wambach scored the game-winner in the 112th minute and the U.S. held on for the historic victory.
The Dragons hope that everyone will join us for the game at the Bean Company on Thursday, August 20th at 9am for this special event for the United States. The Thomasville Dragons are very proud to be a part of the Plantation Adult Soccer Affiliate, Womens Premier Soccer League, United States Adult Soccer Association and United States Soccer.
