About the Team: The Walnut Creek Power has been a WPSL team since 2001.

The Power's roster boasts many local standouts, including many current and former club, St. Mary's College, Santa Clara University, Stanford University, UC Davis and Cal Berkeley players. This year, a strong core of returners will join with a number of formidable new players; including former WUSA stars Venus James and Callie Withers.

The Power is unique in that many of its players are also local coaches, including Paula Campos (WCSC), Jenny Barbera (WCSC/Campolindo HS), Venus James (Lamorinda Soccer Club), Katie Pittman (Bay Oaks/Bishop O'Dowd HS), and Walnut Creek Soccer Club's standouts Stephanie Wieger (Cal Berkeley) and Melissa Yuhas (Stanford).

In the past two seasons in particular, the Power has extended its player base to include a select group of youth players from the area.  This season, many D1-bound graduating seniors will join the Power's player pool, as well as local high school standouts, to gain experience at the highest level and to develop their speed of play to become college-ready.

One of the foundations of the Power's philosophy as a club is to provide not only an opportunity for young players to observe the highest level of soccer in the U.S., but to also create a premier team for young players to aspire to, and the chance for competitive players in the area to train with the top athletes in the Bay Area.

As players committed both to the integrity of the game and the growth of women's soccer at large, the Power will offer training sessions to youth teams, as well as clinics for the local community.  Through outreach to the soccer community throughout the East Bay, the Power will both promote high-level women's soccer as well as the Walnut Creek Soccer Club.

Finally, the Power's reputation attracts high-level players from all over the Bay Area, and provides the opportunity for our local players to have a "home" to come back to in the soccer community.
