FC Twente3 Names New General Manager and Assistant Coach

Chicago, IL

For their second season in the WPSL, FC Twente3 has named Brian Rigby as the new General Manager.  In addition to his General Manager duties, Rigby will follow the FCT3 tradition of donning multiple hats.  He will join as an assistant coach as well.

"This is a tremendous opportunity that Coach Drake has given me to become an active member of the FC Twente3 orginization.  I'm very excited to be involved in the day to day operations and ready to get started, " explained Rigby.

"Adding someone of Riggs' caliber is a step in the right direction for FC Twente3," said Head Coach, Richard Drake, "You may not believe it, but I was getting a little run down being the Head Coach, Team Owner, General Manager, Equipment Manager, Business Officer, Media Relations Contact and Travel Coordinator.  I felt that if I could bring someone in to at least take that pesky General Manager position, I could get a few hours extra sleep at night."

Rigby comes to FC Twente3 with not only NCAA Division I coaching experience, but as a former team and club owner as well.  He successfully ran the Cosmos Soccer Club in the Chicagoland area for many years.  The Cosmos were dedicated to providing a high level environment for college players during the summer months.  Rigby was able to capture the 2005 Illinois Women's State Cup Championship during his time with the Cosmos.

"The goal is for FC Twente3 to become a Championship caliber program.  They have won many trophies at the State and Regional levels, now we must look towards a National Championship quality.  I look forward to helping build that tradition," said Rigby.

Rigby is currently an assistant women's coach for the Loyola University Chicago Ramblers.  He helped guide the team to the 2007 Horizon League Championship, the program's second in a row.  Prior to coming to Loyola in the fall of 2007, Rigby served as an assistant at DePaul for two years, including a stint as the Interim Head Coach.  He holds his USSF "B" License, NSCAA Advanced National Diploma and played collegiately at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

FC Twente3 now boasts a very accomplished coaching staff with the addition to Rigby.  Drake also has two current collegiate head coaches on staff as assistants.  Rigby joins Freddie King, Jr. the Head Women's Coach at Judson College and Derek Niepomnik, the Head Men's Coach at nearby Lake Forest College.

"Riggs just adds another accomplished coach to our staff.  He also brings a little foreign flavor to the club, which will be appreciated," said Drake about the native of Scarborough, Ontario, "I'm happy to now have another coach on staff besides myself who knows all the words to the Canadian National Anthem."

FC Twente3 begins training camp on May 27 before they open the 2008 WPSL season with an away match in Columbus, Ohio on June 8 at 3:00 PM.
