Northampton
Laurels Signs Head Coach

North London Native to Lead
Expansion Team
Easton, PA - The
Northampton Laurels announced today
that Wayne Grocott has been named
the team's first ever Head Coach.
Coach Grocott will spear-head the
Laurels in their inaugural Women
Premier Soccer League (WPSL) season.
"Wayne's passion for the game is
second to none, he brings an
extensive coaching resume with him,
I am convinced that Coach Grocott is
the right choice for the Laurels, he
understands futbol" said General
Manager and Director of Operations
Andy R. Salandy.
Coach Grocott is the holder of the
FA - UEFA "B" and USSF "B" Coaching
licenses along with several other
coaching diplomas. Grocott is no
stranger to the women's game, he
joins the Laurels after successful
stints with the USL's South Jersey
Banshees and their PDL team the
Barons.
Coach Grocott spoke about his newest
head coaching position, “I am
excited to have the opportunity to
play a leadership role in the
Laurels organization, the Laurels
are headed in the right direction,
and I am just happy to be a part of
it."

South
Florida Breeze Picks Up Local
Standout

Renee DeBien |
Miami Lakes, FL - Renee
DeBien, a local standout for many
years, has agreed to play for the
South Florida Breeze today. Rene has
played with the Hialeah-Miami Lakes
High School and led her team to the
State Championship Class 4A in 1993.
She also played locally with Margate
Blitz from 1991 - 1995 and was named
Miami-Dade County Player of the
Year.
DeBien played college ball with
Barry University where she started
all four years and placed second in
the 1995 NCAA Division II
Championships. She became captain of
the team in 1998 and was selected to
the Senior All-Star Select Team. She
has also played in the "W" league
for the Miami Gliders Soccer Club in
1998 and 1999 where they placed 4th
in Nationals.
Renee Graduated from Barry
University with a Bachelor of
Science in Chemistry and she also
has a Doctorate in Pharmacy from
Nova University.

Blues
Franklin, TN - The Women’s
Premier Soccer league (WPSL) has
just granted Tennessee FC Lady Blues
an expansion team in their Midwest
Region. The WPSL is the highest
level of women’s soccer in the
United States and top in the world.
Its mission is to provide a highly
competitive level of women’s soccer,
while simultaneously providing
affordable, quality, family
entertainment and positive role
models for our youth. "We are very
excited to have granted Tennessee FC
a spot in our Midwest Region. We are
positive they will bring a very
competitive organization into the
league," said Jerry Zanelli, WPSL
Commissioner.
The Lady Blues began with signing
Rebekah McDowell, former
All-American and All-ACC Soccer
Standout for the UNC Tar Heels and
for the Philadelphia Charge, along
with the Boston Breakers of the
WUSA. McDowell was an All-American
and All-ACC player, having played
for UNC from 1996-2000 before being
drafted into the WUSA. McDowell also
played for the U.S. Women’s U-21
National Team, where she played in
Norway and won the Nordic Cup. She
was later inducted into the Colorado
Sportswomen Hall of Fame.

Hires Legendary Argentinean Star as
Head Coach

Miami Lakes, FL - The
Miami Surf is pleased to announce
the hiring Miguel Angel Converti as
Head Coach of the Miami Surf. "It
gives me great pleasure and honor to
have him at the helm of this new
expansion team," says owner Ron
Clark.
Miguel played Professionally for
over 15 years in Argentina,
Colombia, Mexico for such teams as
the Millionarios and Sante Fe where
he led the Professional league in
scoring for three consecutive years.
He also played in six Copa
Libertadores, along with many
National and International
Tournaments throughout his career.
In Mexico, Converti also played for
Toluca under legend Ignacio Tallez.
Miguel is ranked amongst the top 100
scorers of All-time on the Colombian
Professional League.
He is Currently Assistant Coach of
Monsignor Pace High School Boys team
and Head of Futbol Operations for
the CTC Bandits FC. Owner Ron Clark
states, "It will be a pleasure
having such experience on the side
lines, I was shocked and amazed that
he considered coaching this team."

Signs Two Top African Players

Bayor and
Okolo finalists for African Player
of the Year
Goshen, IN - FC Indiana,
the reigning US Open Cup and Women’s
Premier Soccer League (WPSL)
national champions, and currently
ranked #2 in the world by
www.WomensWorldFootball.com,
announced the signing of two
finalists for the 2005 African
Player of the Year.
Adjoa Bayor of Ghana and Vera Okolo
of Nigeria are two finalists for the
2005 African Player of the Year
award given annually to Africa’s
best female player.
Bayor, 26, was previously honored by
the Confederation of African
Football (CAF) as the continent's
best player in 2003. She also was a
finalist in 2004. Bayor, who has
been a key member of ‘the Queens’
since 1997, was recognized for her
outstanding contribution for the
Queens during the 2003 Women’s World
Cup in the United States.
The petite offensive midfielder was
the shining star for Ghana and was
voted the Budweiser Best Player in
Ghana’s 2-1 victory over Australia
in the final group match. Bayor has
represented Ghana 59 times.

WPSL as a provisional team
in the spring of 2004, and
as a full member in 2005.
The FC Indiana was founded
to scout and develop top
soccer talent in the US.
In addition to operating its
adult and youth soccer
teams, FC Indiana
administers soccer camps and
soccer tournaments.
