2010 ALL-MIDWEST TEAMS

Hagen nets Midwest Player Of The Year accolade for F.C. Milwaukee

SACRAMENTO, CA (07/29/10) - As the days count down to the 2010 Final Four this weekend in Dallas, TX, the Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL) has released the 2010 All-Midwest Conference Teams. With the new & expanded two-division format in the Midwest this season, the WPSL saw a new level of competition brought to the region - led by 2010 Midwest champion & National Semifinalist F.C. Milwaukee.

When it came to the conference awards, it was a near sweep of individual honors while Nationals Head Coach Christian Lavers can count on five All-Midwest selections to lead his team against Boston on Saturday at 5:00 P.M. (CST) in the first WPSL National Semifinal at UT-Dallas. Fort Wayne F.C. had a strong end-of-the-year run to qualify for the Midwest playoffs and Head Coach Claire Ward can be proud of four selections to the All-Conference Teams. For the full list of honors, see below:

MIDWEST PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Sarah Hagen (F.C. MILWAUKEE NATIONALS)

The U.S. U-23 National Team member was the key-stone to F.C. Milwaukee's nine-match winning streak going into Saturday's WPSL National Semifinal vs. Boston. One of the young stars of U.S. soccer, Hagen has been one of the WPSL's hottest scorers of late, notching eight goals in the past four matches (all wins) for the Nationals. The UW-Milwaukee standout has scored five of the eight goals for F.C. Milwaukee in its three post-season games.

MIDWEST CO-GOALKEEPER OF THE YEAR
GK Leslie Deebach (F.C. MILWAUKEE NATIONALS)
GK Tara Isbell (FORT WAYNE F.C.)

Deebach (UW-Milwaukee) was the back-stop to a National defense that only allowed six goals in eight regular season matches. Isbell (Murray State) started in 8 of the 11 matches for Fort Wayne, who alongside F.C. Milwaukee were first-year teams who qualified for the Midwest playoffs. The latter was the key factor for FWFC in a vital 1-1 draw with defending Midwest champion OP Elite that sent the team to the post-season.

MIDWEST COACH OF THE YEAR
Christian Lavers (F.C. MILWAUKEE NATIONALS)

Familiarity doesn't breed contempt with Lavers and his 10-1-0 squad, as he has reunited the core of his five-time State Championship Team (2004-2008) and has taken that squad to the 2010 WPSL Final Four. Couple that great win-loss record with five All-Midwest Conference selections and Lavers has set a new standard of excellence in the new Midwest-North Division.
