All five conferences - and each division - in the league will roll the ball out this weekend
SACRAMENTO, CA (06/04/10) - The
Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL) will see a full slate of matches this weekend, as each division in all five conferences from the East to the Pacific will officially kick off their 2010 campaigns. The race to the 2010 Final Four hosted this July 31-August 1 by Dallas Premier S.C. in Dallas, TX has already got to a fast start in the East & Pacific Conferences, while the Midwest-North and Big Sky-South Divisions will complete the commencement of this summer's league schedule.
San Jacinto College-South Campus Stadium will be the place Friday & Saturday (June 5-6) as Houston South Select kicks off Big-Sky South Division action, hosting Final Four host Dallas Premier tonight and the Forth Worth Panthers tomorrow night at 7:00 p.m. Dallas recently won the USASA Region III championship and have a impressive roster this year, which includes 2009 All-WPSL selections

Erin Scott.
DPSC has also announced a double-header with FC Dallas of Major League Soccer (MLS), as the Pacific-North's California Storm with
Sissi &
Brandi Chastain will travel to Pizza Hut Park this Saturday, July 3rd for the first match, while the Kansas City Wizards will take on the home side in the night cap. California will then travel to North Bay F.C. (1-0-0 WPSL Pacific-North) on Sunday for a 4:00 p.m. start while F.C. Sacramento (0-2-0 WPSL Pacific-North) looks to win their home opener at Elk Grove High School against the Clovis Sidekicks (0-1-0 WPSL Pacific-North) at 6:00 p.m.
In the Pacific-South, first-place LAFC Chelsea (2-0-0 WPSL Pacific-South) faces a dual threat against the 2009 first & second place sides, respectively. Head Coach Manny Martins side hosts Ajax America (1-0-0 WPSL Pacific-South) Saturday at 6:00 p.m. at La Canada High School while traveling to beautiful Torero Stadium to face SD United (1-0-0 WPSL Pacific-South) on Sunday at 4:30 p.m. Martins will have his two WPSL Team of the Week honorees
Elise Britt and
Shanna Hudson at his disposal in hopes of continuing his team's bright start.
"Our opening victories were affirmation of our approach and we hope to continue our momentum," said Martins. "The quality of the players on the roster has also had a positive impact on the training sessions, which in turn improves the team's overall level of play."
2009 Big Sky-North champion Arizona will roll the ball out for the first time, as they play a home-and-home with Phoenix with the Rush hosting tonight's tilt at Murphey Field while the Del Sol host at Reach 11 tomorrow - both kick off at 7:00 p.m. Further east, Iowa Rush opens Midwest-North play by hosting a double-header against the Madison 56ers on Saturday (1:00 p.m.) at the University of Iowa Soccer Complex while on Sunday, the team goes up against F.C. Milwaukee at the Prairie Ridge Complex in Ankeny, IA on Sunday (1:00 p.m.).
On the opposite coast, all five teams in the Florida-based Sunshine Conference get under way, as 2009 champion Miami Kickers F.C. travels to the Tampa area to face Brandon F.C. at J.C. Handly Park for a 7:30 p.m. kick off. Last but not least, a re-match of last season's East Conference Final happens tonight at Robert T. Shields Stadium Stadium on the campus of FDU-Florham at 7:00 p.m.
The Millburn Magic (2-1-0 WPSL East-Central) will look to continue their offense after a 4-0 win over Jersey Select on Wednesday, as they host 2009 WPSL National Champion Long Island (3-0-0 WPSL East-Central) in a important early season showdown. In the Northeast Division, the New England Mutiny (1-1-0 WPSL East-Northeast) travel to face Seacoast United (0-2-0 WPSL East-Northeast) at noon while Boston Aztec U-23 (1-0-0 WPSL East-Northeast) gets back to action against their sister club in the Boston Breakers Reserves (2-0-0 WPSL East-Northeast) at Citizen Bank Fields in Lancaster, MA on Saturday.
