THREE MORE RETURN TO MILLBURN

Fissel (L) & Kaminski (R) re-sign with 2009 East Conference Finalists

MORRIS PLAINS, NJ (04/30/10) - With the start of the 2010 WPSL season in the East Conference only weeks away, northern New Jersey's representatives - the Millburn Magic of the East Conference of the Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL) - are pleased to announce the return of three more of the area's finest players to the White & Blue. Coming back for another season with the Magic are Katy Fissel, Lara Kaminski and Katie McDonnell, adding to an outstanding roster for the season ahead.

"I'm really happy to have these players back again," said Magic Head Coach Andy Sones. "Lara has been a great player for us for two years, she has a tremendous presence on the field, and I know she will be a huge asset for us again this time around. Katy [Fissel] got better throughout last season, and there's no doubt that having her missing hurt us in the final.

"Watching Katie develop over the last couple of years has been fantastic... she was coming off injuries last year which affected her for a long time but this year, she's 100% and I've no doubts that she will contribute a lot."

The recipient of 2009 NJAC Second Team honors with Kean University for the third time in her career, Kaminski was one of just two players to start all 19 games this season, including all nine in conference play, and registered two goals from midfield. Returning from an outstanding debut season in 2009, Fissel will be looking for a more positive end to this season as opposed to the 2009 campaign.

After playing in all the early season games, the Wilkes midfielder sprained her ankle in the Magic's 2-1 win at Philadelphia, which kept her out of Millburn's play-off run that took them to the East Regional Final. Fissel earned First Team All-Freedom Conference honors for Wilkes University this year despite being injured for much of the season (she played only 10 games).

McDonnell will rejoin the Magic for her second season, with a significantly greater role expected for the James Caldwell High School junior this time out. For the last two seasons, the soon-to-be Fordham Ram has led her high school team in both goals and assists, also doubling up with All-State, All-County and All-Conference honors in both 2008 and 2009.

The Magic open their season at home against New York Athletic Club on May 23rd, starting a campaign that includes games against the Philadelphia Independence and defending WPSL National Champion Long Island Fury. The Magic have a unique and FREE affiliate program for youth clubs interested in being a part of the premier local program for women's amateur soccer, showcasing many of the best New Jersey women playing in college today.
