In 2004 San Diego WFC, Inc., a 501(c)(3) organization was created to develop, and maintain a full-service soccer program, providing playing and training opportunities, coaching, instruction and learning opportunities, and offering soccer program administration opportunities, for females of all ages in under-served areas of San Diego. Also in 2004, WFC has created a close relationship with the Fusion Soccer Club, a girls only competitive club based in Santee.

San Diego WFC has won numerous titles including:

About the Coaching: A former standout defender with the Major League Soccer Kansas City Wizards and SD Sockers, Sean Bowers will begin his first season with the SeaLions. Currently an assistant at California Baptist College, Mr. Bowers served as an assistant coach for the Detroit Rockers of the NPSL in 2000-01. He served as head coach and, earlier, an assistant coach of the Michigan Hawks, an Under-23 women's select team that won the 2001 U.S. Open Cup. In 1999, he was an assistant coach at William Jewell College, an NAIA school in Liberty, Mo.

He is the only person in NPSL/MISL history to achieve at least 800 blocks and 800 points. He was a 2002 MISL All-Star and the league's Defender of the Year with the Baltimore Blast. During 2002-03, he also served as the team's interim head coach.

Bowers has also been a member of the U.S. National Futsal Team since 1995, earning 30 international caps. He has been the team captain since 1998. The team won the 2004 CONCACAF gold medal and reached the quarterfinals of the 2004 World Cup. He also saw time with the Detroit Rockers of the National Professional Soccer League from 1991-95 and 2000-01. In 1991, he was the league's Rookie of the Year as the Rockers won the NPSL championship. He was a 4-time All-Star and 2-time Defender of the Year Cup.

Bowers brings with him, Wilt Kishimoto, a fellow assistant coach at California Baptist College. Kishimoto has made his mark as a youth club coach. In addition to his California Baptist duties, he is currently the Director of Coaching for Desert United Soccer Club in Palm Desert, Calif. He led the squad to the 2004 state Open Cup championship. He was previously a coach with the Riverside United club program from 1996-2003. His teams won the 1999 Coast Gold and state Open Cup titles.
