For Immediate release -
In 1999 the Utah Spiders entered the WPSL as an expansion team traveling to California to test Utah's ability to compete. 10 years later Utah has earned a U23 National Title, a Gothia Cup Champions Title, two WPSL Final Four appearances, and a WPSL National Championship. The 2008 season promises to be an exciting year not only in the WPSL but in the Oceania Football Confederation. Utah is finalizing the details of the Tour to Fiji where they will be hosted by the Fiji Football Association, promoting womens soccer in the Island Nation. The highlight of the trip to Fiji will be a match with coach Carlos Buzzetti's Fiji Senior WNT in Loutoka Stadium, Nadi Fiji. Plans for a second tour over the winter break are under discussions with Quensland, Australia where Utah will play the territorial teams. Coordination for this tour is being done by George Cowie (Papua New Guinea, MNT coach, Queensland Academy Coach and resident of Brisbane, AUS).
