About the Team: Established in 2012, The Houston Aces proudly moved into the WPSL Elite in the 2013 season. We are looking forward to playing nationally as well as regionally against the best competition in the United States. The 2013 roster has attracted talent from across the globe. We have players from Canada, Haiti, and various soccer powerhouse cities such as Miami, FL and Los Angeles, CA. Of course we have a plethora of Texas talent to complement our new players. Players from Rice University, Texas State, University of the Incarnate Word, and University of Houston are just a few D1 NCAA schools who have contributed players this season. We are also excited to welcome our new head coach, Aguinaldo Ferreira. He brings a new definition to "Total Soccer" you will not want to miss. Keep up with Houston Aces WPSL games, exhibition matches, etc. by following them at http://www.thehoustonaces.com About the Coaching: Aguinaldo "Gui Gui" Ferreira, Head Coach Gui Gui's resume includes Weston FC Soccer Club - Regional ODP programming coach, USSF "B" National License, NSCAA Advance National License, National Strength and Conditioning Certificate and has a bachelor's degree in Kinesiology. His experiences are international and include acting as the USSF liaison to the Brazilian Men's National team during the Friendship Cup and as a CONCACAF Gold Cup Liaison in 1996. Several players under Gui Gui's influential coaching has sent players to play for perennial powerhouses in the NCAA in addition to earning roster spots on the U.S. U-17 and U.S. U-19 teams which participated in the youth World Cups. Ferreira is fluent in English, Spanish & Portuguese. Victor Ruiz, Assistant Coach Victor has 17 years of coaching all levels College, ODP, Club, and High School. Victor holds a USSF C license and the following accomplishments in women's soccer: a National title with Cal South ODP Girls, 5 Regional championships Cal South ODP Girls, Regional championship runner up Nevada ODP Girls, H.S. State Championship Girls in San Diego, CA and Semi-Finalist Women's Junior College. David Merrilees, Head Trainer / Goalkeeping Coach David has played and coached at Hendon F.C Ryman Premier League Semi-Pro club in London. He was a Youth Development Officer and a Youth Secretary until he was recruited to Houston in 2002 as a trainer with Extreme Soccer Club (now Texas Rush). He has also experienced the youth soccer levels at many other clubs such as Quail Valley Soccer Association as Trainer then Director of Training 2003-2004, Missouri City United Soccer Association as Trainer then Director of Training 2004-2006, Conroe Youth Soccer Association Trainer then Director of Training 2006-2008, Montgomery Youth Soccer Club as Trainer then Director of Training 2009-2010, and Goalkeeper Trainer at all of the above. Currently he is the trainer with the Cyclones U13 Girls and Alliance Futbol Club Goalkeepers. David holds the following licenses and certificates: FA Preliminary Certificate, FA Coaching Certificate 'C' License, UEFA 'B' Part 1, FA Goalkeeper Coaching Certificate, USSF 10/12. As a Referee: UK Highest Level 5; US Highest Level 6. David joined the Houston Aces in the inaugural year and has stayed on as full time staff during the off-season. Qualifications: FA Preliminary Certificate, FA Coaching Certificate 'C' License, UEFA 'B' Part 1, FA Goalkeeper Coaching Certificate, USSF 10/12, As a Referee: UK Highest Level 5; US Highest Level 6 Dido Tshimanga, Professional Development Advisor Dido joins us from the beautiful beaches of California. He holds a "B" USSF National license, strength and conditioning certificate, and athlete performance enhancement qualifications. He has coached across the globe and most recently worked with the SC Blues and Strikers FC. He is on the Coaching Staff of the ODP Region IV while extending scouting duties for his native country of DR Congo. Dido began his professional play in his native country with OC Bukavu Dawa before moving to the USA. He then played for Avanti in the Los Angeles semi-pro circuit before retiring to coaching.

They are fearless on the field and community advocates for the sport off the field.
