Three out of four berths into the 2010 WPSL Final Four decided this weekend
SACRAMENTO, CA (07/22/10) - The race to the 2010
Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL) National Championship (July 31-August 1) in Dallas, TX has come down the stretch, with teams sprinting towards the finish line. Three out of the berths into the WPSL "Final Four" will be decided this weekend, as the 4-team Pacific Conference playoffs get underway in Pasadena, CA while in the East & Midwest, four teams will battle it out for two more tickets to Dallas.
In the East Conference Final, defending WPSL Champion Long Island will travel north to face the Boston Aztec Breakers Reserves this Saturday. The Fury hit the road & defeated their nemesis Lancaster last night by a 2-1 score, while the host side battled it out with Aztec U-23 on Tuesday, taking a exciting 2-1 win in the 119th minute of play.
After gaining a 3-1 win over defending Sunshine Conference champion Miami last weekend, the FSA Freedom will also travel north this Saturday to face Midwest Champion F.C. Milwaukee in a WPSL Playoff match. F.C. Milwaukee won the Midwest Championship last weekend via a dramatic 5-4 penalty-shootout victory over defending conference champion OP Elite, after the two teams finished regulation tied at 2-2.
The Pacific Conference playoffs will be held at two venues this Saturday & Sunday - Maranatha (7/24) & Muir (7/25) High Schools in Pasadena, CA. Ticket prices are $5/adults & $3/kids (FREE admission if wearing a soccer jersey). Parking is $5 for the semifinal matches and FREE for the Sunday Final.
The winners of these three playoff matches qualify for the 2010 WPSL Final Four, hosted by Dallas Premier Women's S.C. of the Big Sky Conference at the University of Texas-Dallas Soccer Stadium. All tickets can be purchased at the gate and pricing packages are: $10 for any single game; $15 One-Day Pass (for either the Semifinals or National Consolation/Final); $25 Event Pass (all four games).
In case of inclement weather, the alternate venue for the WPSL National Championship Tournament will be John Paul II High School. Full WPSL Playoff & Final Four information is provided below:
