The WPSL is excited to announce the creation of a national U20 league beginning June of 2012. Our U20 league will provide both our current teams and future teams an avenue to field their U20 players.
The U20 league will be a scaled down version of what we already do better than any other women's soccer league. PROVIDE OPPORTUNITY FOR WOMEN SOCCER PLAYERS.
Low entry cost and fewer minimum standards will allow entry into the amateur level while preparing players to "move up" to a full WPSL team or will allow our current teams to create a "feeder" system. The U20 league will utilize the current WPSL website for registration, web exposure and administration. This league will follow our already established conferences.
Each conference will have the ability to decide if traditional "home and away" competition or "tournament style" competiton works best for them at this age level.
Who is this league for?
Any team desirous of high level U20 competition that can meet a basic set of minimum standards.
What exactly is this?
A national U20 league supported by the WPSL League will be comprised of teams within local geographic regions designed for cost effective but high quality competition.
Where is this taking place?
The WPSL U20 league will follow the same regional conferences as the adult league.
When is it going to happen?
Starting Summer 2012 Season to run: June 1 to August 1.
Why is this happening?
To serve the age group in between traditional youth club soccer and the adult amateur level.
To provide a feeder system for existing WPSL teams.
